The Boards of City Fans United and the Chester FC Community Trust met before Saturday's match to discuss their joint strategy moving forward.

This was the first of a series of regular Board to Board meetings we intend holding in the coming months to improve communication between the Club and the Community Trust so that we can work together to enhance our community work and profile.

A wide variety of topics were covered and the two boards agreed on an initial four areas where we will be working together in the short to medium term, namely:

1. Promoting the club in the community

2. Furthering the community sporting facilities project - the Trust recently met with the Council with a view to securing progress in this area.

3. Attracting more young supporters to the club.

4. Developing and maintaining a family area in the stadium.

Trust CEO Jon McCarthy also gave an update on the work which the Trust has recently been given grant funding for which includes: working with schools in Ellesmere Port and Neston on a healthy eating programme (this includes a free match ticket promotion); setting up a new girls football development centre for u8s and u10s in conjunction with the Cheshire FA and the Football Foundation and a ten-week programme called 'Alive and Kicking' for over 60s to encourage active lifestyles.

The Trust are also actively seeking more Volunteers to help in their work and/or to serve on their Board. If you feel you would like to help then please get in touch with Jon McCarthy.
