Information: My name is Neil Bellis and I am director of communications at Chester FC having been elected to the role in 2014. In 2015 I was elected as vice chairman.
I am 24 years old and I currently work at the Chester Leader and Standard as a reporter. I was born in Chester and have been a supporter of the club since I was a child.
I am also the co-editor of The Blue & White fanzine which raises money for the Junior Blues. In 2013 we were nominated for FSF Fanzine of the Year, the only fanzine in Non League to have ever been nominated.
I decided to put my name forward for election to try and help direct the club’s media section.
I am pleased to say that I think we have a very good set up with lots of enthusiastic volunteers who do a very good job of keeping everyone at the match, and those unable to attend, informed about what is going on through a multitude of platforms – Blues Live, Twitter, Facebook, the official website and so on. The club also has very good relationships with local media and some national media, which is clearly a huge positive and must continue.
These volunteers are highly engaged and I want that to continue as a priority. They are constantly coming up with ways to improve the service we provide to the members and fans and I am delighted that we have recently started a media working group, chaired by Chris Graham, which is looking into constantly improving our media output with Daniel Burns as the club's media officer.
One of my main priorities during my directorship is to drastically improve the communication from the board to CFU members.
At the moment I am working on a range of measures to do this including;
- A new regular newsletter - this is now a fortnightly email into CFU members inboxes. If you are not receiving it please contact me.
- Streaming CFU meetings for those of us who live away from CH1
- A CFU members area where members can easily access the information they need to know where their club is.
If you want to join the media team or have ideas about how we can improve communications at the club then please email me on
